Elle Girl Launch Date Announced

Hachette-Emap magazines is to launch Elle Girl in direct competition with Natmag’s Cosmo Girl. Natmags confirmed a launch date for its teen girl title of 20 September earlier this year and it now seems its Emap rival will appear on the newsstands during the same month.

Selling brands to teenagers is what Emap’s hopes are evidently pinned on. Promising “the perfect showcase for advertisers seeking a more sophisticated teenage reader”, Elle Girl will launch as an international brand, with a US version already launched as a website, to be joined by the print version in September and other international editions under development.
The second edition of the magazine is due to be released early in 2002, after which it will appear quarterly. The launch editors are Sarah Bailey and Fiona McIntosh.
