Emap Acquires New Media Business

Emap Performance, the digital wing of Emap Consumer Media (ECM), has acquired technology and new media business Yospace Technologies Limited.

Yospace’s products include the See Me TV and Look At Me TV services and its customers include major UK mobile network operators.

The acquisition of Yospace gives Emap a strong position in mobile user-generated content and digital technology capabilities.

Yospace recently won the Mobile Innovation Award 2006 (MEF) and Best Content Service 2006 (Mobile Entertainment Awards).

Paul Keenan, chief executive of Emap consumer media, said: “The acquisition of Yospace is another step in our strategy of migrating resources onto faster growth digital platforms and reflects our commitment to cutting-edge innovation be it in magazines, radio, TV or digital businesses.”

Dharmash Mistry, MD of ECM and Emap Performance, said: “We are delighted to acquire the innovative team and technology behind the market leading See Me TV and Look At Me TV brands.

“Coupled with Emap’s marketing reach, brands, content and industry relationships, this strategic move parachutes us to the forefront of the emerging mobile user generated and video content market.

Tim Sewell, CEO of Yospace, said: “As the market leader in mobile user generated content and the supply of multimedia messaging infrastructure software, this announcement is key to the continued growth of our business.

“Our success to date is down to the skill and dedication of the team at Yospace combined with the ongoing support shown by our major mobile operator customers. Being part of Emap will enable Yospace to accelerate product development and new services, and deliver enhanced support to our customers in the mobile operator space globally.”

Tim Sewell and David Springall will continue to lead the business, based in Staines, on a day to day basis.

They will work closely alongside Emap’s existing mobile business, led by Andrea Kilbourne (MD of Mobile), and report to Dharmash Mistry.
