Emap Advertising has announced the winners of its competition to find the UK Young Creative Team to represent the UK in the print competition at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival Young Creatives Competition.
Art director Jay Phillips and copywriter Neil Clarke from McCann Erickson in London have been chosen as the UK representatives at the competition, taking place on 16-17 June.
Emap Advertising’s competition to find the UK representatives took place during April when prospective teams were asked to respond to a creative brief to devise a print campaign for Emap’s Kiss radio station.
Teams were asked to put together a campaign that reflected Kiss’s refreshed brand values and referenced the different ways in which radio can be consumed.
The competition entries were judged by Steve Parkinson, MD of Kiss and group marketing director of Emap Radio, and Emma Roscoe, marketing manager of Kiss.
Parkinson said: “The standard of the entries was very high. Jay and Neil’s entry stood out due to their grasp of the brief and their creation of a simple idea which expresses the feel of Kiss and the associated messages about how listeners can access it. It is an accessible, creative idea which is extremely versatile.”
Up to 35 print teams from around the world will be given 24 hours to create a print advertisement at the Cannes Lions Festival.
The brief will be disclosed to all competitors at 5pm on Saturday 16 June. The teams then be given a night to consider the brief and work from 8am to 8pm on Sunday 17 June to create their advertisement. All work created during the competition is judged by the Print Jury and will be exhibited at the festival. It will also be available to view online at www.canneslionslive.com during and after the festival.
The winning Print Team will be presented with Gold medals on stage during the Press Lions & Cyber Lions awards ceremony on Wednesday 20 June. Their winning artwork will be available for the organisation setting the brief to incorporate into their marketing campaign.
