Emap Consumer Media Strengthens Digital Team

Emap Logo Emap Consumer Media has strengthened its team of digital experts with the appointment of two new digital directors and a head of business development.

Ralph Percival has been appointed as the new specialist digital director and Andrew Robb has been appointed as lifestyle digital director.

Percival will concentrate on the specialist portfolio which spans brands including Motorcycle News, Today’s Golfer and Car whilst Robb will focus on the lifestyle portfolio with brands such as Heat, Closer, FHM and Empire.

Both will be driving the creation of new business opportunities across their respective portfolios. They will look at ways of building online communities – increasing e-commerce opportunities by shifting the digital businesses from navigation to transaction – as well as at stretching existing brands across different platforms and acting as the catalysts to stimulate, encourage and filter digital investment ideas, says Emap.

They will both report to Dharmash Mistry, MD of Emap Performance, with a dotted line into the respective divisional MDs. They will work alongside the MDs and teams, developing the portfolio digital strategy and ultimately delivering the P&L digital targets across the specialist and lifestyle business.

They will be joined by Brenda Gordon who is taking up the newly created role of head of business development (M&A) consumer. Brenda has an excellent background in media, strategy and corporate finance. She has spent the past seven years at Guardian News and Media working on new business development initiatives across online, recruitment and film projects.

Gordon will report to Sarah Vickery, ECM’s business development director, with all three starting by early September.

The three appointments follow the recent recruitment of former Fish4 group CEO Jonathan Turpin, now ECM’s radio digital development director and digital director Dhiraj Mukherjee, one of the co-founders of Shazam Entertainment, the world’s first mobile-phone music recognition service.

Dharmash Mistry, said: “I am delighted that we are bringing in new proven digital talent, such as Ralph, Andrew and Brenda to the Emap group. Their roles will be fundamental in developing significant new digital initiatives unlocking the growth potential of our brands and investing in fast growth platforms – be that through organic growth or acquisition.”
