Emap Could Offer Loans To Bidders

Emap is considering loaning money to potential bidders for its three divisions, as it attempts to ensure its break up auction goes ahead despite the volatility in the credit markets.

According to reports, the move would see successful bids funded by Emap, which is said to be in discussion with several banks to gauge their interest in arranging these loans.

Around 30 companies having requested information from the company on either its consumer magazines, business-to-business or radio divisions.

The latest name to be linked with Emap is the Finnish publishing company Sanoma, which is said to be interested in the group’s £700 million consumer magazine division.

Sanoma already licences the Emap titles FHM and Top Sante in Europe.
