Empire Goes Risqu[[special-character:(17)]] For Its Big Day

Film magazine Empire is creating a special 18 certificate sealed section for its June issue, in celebration of the title’s eighteenth birthday.

The 16-page sealed section is billed to feature some of the most “outrageous, shocking and controversial content ever”, including; the 18 greatest 18 certificate movie moments ever, the top ten greatest cinematic shower scenes and a top ten celebrity film nudes.

The special ‘grown-up’ content will be supported in the magazine with a series of world exclusives to help celebrate Empire‘s birthday, including the first ever picture of new comic book hero Iron Man, the world’s first interview with Shia LaBeouf on his role in the fourth instalment of the Indiana Jones Adventures, and an interview with Peter Jackson reviewing all of his most famous films.

“We are very excited to have reached this publishing milestone and are pleased that after 18 years, we are still the world’s number one movie magazine,” said Empire‘s editor Mark Dinning, who took up the post when he returned to Emap last year after a spell at Future (see Dinning Returns To Emap To Edit Empire).

“This special issue is a great way to celebrate Empire‘s eighteenth birthday and I’m sure our readers will enjoy it.”

Since the end of 2004, ABC figures have shown the title to record a fairly steady decline in its circulation. However, the publication experienced a slight rise for July to December 2006 compared to the previous period, now reporting a total figure of 175,854.
