England Win Gets 10 Million Adult Viewers

Football The BBC’s coverage of England’s crucial Euro 2008 qualifying match brought in a big audience last night, with a peak of 10 million adults (a 46.1% share) watching the action.

England racked up a hot 3-0 win over a well-drilled Russian team and an average audience of 8.3 million adults watched the action unfold on BBC One.

In the face of such stiff opposition, Hell’s Kitchen, over on ITV1 at 9pm, could only manage a peak of 3.4 million adults (a 16.3% share).

Although some of the frisson might be missing from the show now that the roguish Jim Davidson has departed, an average of 3.1 million adults still thought it was worth sticking with throughout its hour long running time.

Following on from the reality show was Holly & Fearne Go Dating in which the two stalwarts of Saturday morning kid’s TV try to engineer a match made in heaven.

The bodacious babes had a peak audience of 1.8 million adults (a 9% share) and an average of 1.6 million adults.

Meanwhile, BBC Two’s quality sci-fi import Heroes could only manage a peak of 1.7 million adults (a 7.9% share) in the same timeslot.

Last night’s instalment of the programme saw Mohinder wondering how he could dream about a sister he did not know he had.
