Expanding Ocean Outdoor Hires Sales Director

Ocean Outdoor Logo Large format outdoor media contractor, Ocean Outdoor, has hired Mark Wilkinson as its first sales director following what the company claims has been an “excellent first year.”

The appointment sees Wilkinson leave his current position as sales director at media publishing company Job Opportunities to take charge of sales at Ocean and further build the department.

Wilkinson brings extensive experience in press, including executive roles within divisions of Johnston Press, to Ocean, which has put in an encouraging performance since its launch at the start of the year.

Ocean was founded by Damian Cox, a former employee of blowUP Media and owner of E.K. Straas before its sale to Clear Channel.

Commenting on Wilkinson’s appointment, Cox said: “We’ve grown steadily over the year through a determination to build a profitable rather than purely volume-based business. Now we are ready to move on to the next stage, and Mark is an experienced, dynamic individual who will expand the range of ideas, services and facilities we can offer our clients.”

Wilkinson has already begun his work with Ocean, organising a promotion in which Ocean will offer sites for 2006 campaigns at 2005 prices throughout October.

The company currently operates 15 sites in major conurbations, and is set to increase this total by 50% by the end of the year. Advertisers using Ocean’s network include VW, Max Mara, Budweiser, Reebok, GAP, Puma, Apple, ITV, Virgin Trains, Renault, esure, Eurostar, RAC and Sony.
