Family History Proves Its Pedigree For BBC Two

Julian Clary The BBC’s family history show, Who Do You Think You Are, proved its consistency as a ratings winner last night, topping primetime viewing with an average of 5.6 million adults tuning in to trace Julian Clary’s heritage.

The programme, which has scored ratings wins in the past, despite tough competition from Channel 4 and ITV (see Lost Hits Ratings High But Fails To Topple Rivals), claimed a viewing share of 25.11% last night, continuing to demonstrate the appeal of genealogy.

Elsewhere, ITV1’s film premiere of Two Weeks Notice drew 4.2 million adults on average, while Five’s film, The Godfather Part II, was watched by 1.1 million adults.

Channel 4’s shock documentary, Extraordinary Breastfeeding, drew an average audience of 3.6 million adults meanwhile, with its dubious subject matter scoring higher viewers than Desperate Housewives. The American drama series followed the breast-fest, drawing 3.1 million viewers on average.
