Magazine giant Emap has announced the appointment of James Mannion as the new editorial director of its flagship men’s magazine website, FHM.com.

Mannion is currently executive editor of FHM and has been working on the brand for the last three years; he will take up the new role from 1 March this year.

Before joining FHM, Mannion was the editor of the BBC’s Live and Kicking Magazine. Commenting on the new position, James Carter, publishing director of FHM UK said: “I am delighted with this appointment which demonstrates FHM UK’s commitment to building a strong, senior online team, who will continue to fuel the exciting growth of the business. James’ experience will help drive even greater synergy between FHM magazine and FHM.com and compliment the existing team skills.”

He continued: “This appointment, combined with increased investment over the next five years, will see FHM.com strengthen its market leading position and broaden the premium content offering to its many users.”

Last December saw FHM.com announce the creation of an online style channel, providing the 2 million daily visitors to its website with the latest fashion and grooming advice to comprise what it claims is the “ultimate style guide to life” (see FHM Boosts Style Content With Dedicated Online Channel).

More recently the Magazine secured an exclusive cross branding and advertising deal worth over £1 million with online poker site, The World Poker Exchange, comprising print, online and TV elements spanning six months (see FHM Secures Poker Deal Worth Over £1 Million).
