Films And Video Downloaded By 5% Of Europeans, Finds Forrester
Films and videos are downloaded from the internet by 5% of online European consumers, with the UK slightly below the average at 3%, according to data compiled by Forrester Research.
After Sweden, it is the countries with relatively low online penetrations which have a higher proportion of downloaders, including Spain (7%), France (6%) and Italy (5%). This is because these countries have a higher penetration of high-speed, broadband networks which are proving the principal driver for downloading of video files.
The research shows that 86% of downloaders have a broadband system, with just 14% using a dial-up connection.

The male student Forrester typifies the movie and video downloader as a male student. “Picture a small rented apartment filled with the latest electronic gadgets, beer cans and pizza boxes. And there you see today’s downloader – a young, male student, entertained by downloaded movies and music on his PC,” says the report.
