Five To Show CSI On-Demand

Five has signed a deal to show CSI:Crime Scene Investigation, CSI:Miami and CSI:NY, on the channel’s forthcoming video-on-demand (VOD) service being launched later in the year.

The deal been has signed with Alliance Atlantis to licence certain second window and exclusive VOD rights for the CSI franchise.

Five says that this negotiation, part of a pan-RTL Group deal, will run alongside the existing ‘life of series’ CSI contract the channel already has in place and furthers the broadcaster’s strategic partnership with Alliance Atlantis.

Last month Five announced the Autumn launch of two new free to air digital services five life and five US (see Five To Launch Two New Channels).

Jane Lighting, chief executive of Five, said: “I’m delighted that the CSI franchise will be part of our new digital services, this deal further cements Five’s reputation as the home of the very best in US drama and comedy.”

“It’s also very exciting that we’ve been able to launch our first VOD service by offering UK viewers the chance to purchase on-line their favourite American series.”
