FT To Produce Election Compact On Friday

TV Easy The Financial Times will distribute a free Election Briefing in London on Friday afternoon, publishing in tabloid form for a one off eight-page special.

The freesheet will offer up-to-the-minute election news, comment and analysis as well as giving readers a taster of the following day’s newspaper, in which the outcome and all the results will be covered in full.

Sponsored by Bank of Scotland, the compact briefing will be distributed at main business travel points, as well as at major corporate offices, following the success of the paper’s recent Budget Briefing which saw the FT attract record levels of reach amongst readers as well as attracting record advertising revenue.

Commenting on the latest compact special edition, Michael Rzesnitzek, managing director of the FT’s Europe, Middle East and Africa operations said: “The election briefing is a great opportunity for readers to gain understanding on what the election result will mean for business people.

“FT readers can check immediate election results on FT.com, pick up the budget briefing on their way home for extra analysis, and then get full coverage in the weekend newspaper on Saturday.”

Rumours that the FT is to be put up for sale were quashed recently by outgoing chairman of the paper’s publisher, Pearson, who said the company has no intention of selling its flagship title, and that its recent cost-cutting drive had been hugely successful (see Pearson Will Not Sell Financial Times).
