Gannett Reveals Q2 Advertising Revenues

The news and information company, Gannett has announced that overall revenue slipped from $1.63 billion in the second quarter of 2001 to $1.62 billion at the same period this year.

Gannett, which owns USA Today as well as regional newspapers in the US and UK, also revealed a 5% year-on-year increase in net profits from $288.9 million to $303.9 million. A rise in adspend at the company’s broadcasting division made up for a slight fall in newspaper advertising revenue.

The New York Times Company (NYTC) yesterday announced a 2.1% decline in advertising revenue for the second quarter of 2002 (see Ad Decline Thrashes NYT Co Profits).
