GCap Signs Simpsons Promotion Deal

Homer Simpson GCap Media has signed a six-figure deal to promote The Simpsons Movie on radio stations including Capital 95.8 and XFM.

Capital 95.8, the official radio partner for the film, will participate in a series of Simpsons related stunts to celebrate the launch of the film on July 25, including an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for building the tallest doughnut tower.

Other Simpsons activity on Capital will include a live interview with the show’s creator Matt Groening on Johnny Vaughan’s breakfast show and taking over all the advertising spots on capitalradio.com on the day of the premiere as well as on the day of the official release.

Johnny Vaughan’s regular breakfast show feature ‘Welshie Calling’ will also be adapted to incorporate The Simpsons, with Welshie calling real towns called Springfield live on air in a series of Bart Simpson style phone pranks.

XFM, Classic FM and One Network will also be participating in various promotional activities around the film’s premiere.

The deal was brokered by GCap Media’s Krissie Ford and Katie Feder.

“They have incorporated all their media platforms, including great on-air mechanics, fantastic online presence plus a great and very out of the ordinary doughnut Guinness World Record attempt.”
