Gervais-Penned Simpsons Scores Ratings Hit For Sky

Simpsons Sky One’s screening of the long-awaited Simpsons episode written by Ricky Gervais drew 1.5 million adults last night, exceeding the audience for the two preceeding episodes and more than doubling the audience of a following edition of the show.

Airing at 6:30pm, the episode featured Gervais as the voice of Charles – Homer Simpson’s opposite number in a wife-swapping TV show entered by the family in an attempt to win a HDTV.

Elsewhere, terrestrial broadcasters BBC One and ITV1 saw their largest audiences of the evening with Antiques Roadshow and Coronation Street, drawing 5.4 million and 8.6 million adults respectively.

Channel 4’s Invasion performed well meanwhile, attracting 1.3 million to the channel, while Five’s film, The Sweetest Thing, also drew 1.3 million.
