GMG Ends Ad Sales Contract With Global Radio

Radio GMG Radio is terminating its advertising sales contract with Global Radio after negotiations broke down last week.

The sales contracts were inherited by Global Radio when it acquired Chrysalis earlier this year (see Chrysalis Radio To Sell For £170 Million).

It now looks likely that GMG will give the contract to GCap Media, which currently sells national advertising for GMG’s century stations.

In a statement the company said: “GMG Radio has reviewed its national sales arrangements over recent months and the change of ownership provided the opportunity to exit the contract,” the company said in a statement.

“An announcement regarding the new sales arrangements will be made in due course.”

GMG Radio is owned by Guardian Media Group, the parent company of the Guardian, Observer and Guardian Unlimited website network.

Last week Global Radio pulled out of a joint venture with BSkyB to launch a radio version of Sky News (see Sky News Radio Plans Shelved).
