Gold Radio Gets New Breakfast Show Presenter
Gold Radio has signed Capital 95.8’s James Cannon to present its Breakfast Show as part of a new weekday line-up starting on January 21.
Cannon will present the new Gold Network Breakfast Show with Erika North from 6am to 10am Monday to Friday.
Cannon said: “I’m really excited about joining Gold. The station has really changed over the past couple of years and the chance to work with such a dedicated team of people is something that really appeals.
“The show will of course play the best songs ever and I can’t wait to start having a laugh every morning.”
The latest changes mark the next phase in the station’s strategy to increase music focused programming and showcase the breadth and variety of its output.
David Jensen moves from the Breakfast Show to the late morning slot, 10am to 1pm.
Each network area will continue to have its own locally presented weekday afternoon show 12pm to 4pm except in London where Sam Hughes will present 1pm to 4pm.
Mike Sweeney will continue to present the Drivetime Show 4pm to 8pn, with specialist music documentaries running in the last hour. Dean Martin will present Gold Control providing two hours of non-stop listener requests 8pm to 10pm.
Specialist music shows will now dominant the evening schedule Monday to Thursday, 10pm to 12am as follows: Monday – The Rock Show, featuring a variety of guest presenters, Tuesday – Bottom to the Top, featuring a celebrity guests chart rundown, Wednesday – 60s Classics, Thursday – At The Hop featuring 50’s Rock n Roll & Du Wop and Friday – Greg Edwards’ Soul Party.
Andy Turner, station director for the Gold Radio Network said: “James Cannon is an extremely talented and experienced broadcaster who with Erika will bring a new fresh dynamic to the station with the right mix of intelligence and humour to connect with our core ABC1 35-54 audience.”
