Google search has seen a 3.1% year on year increase and remains well ahead of the competition in the US search share rankings, according to the latest data from Nielsen Online.
The Nielsen report, which lists the top search providers according to total searches, also found that only four out of the top ten search engines saw year on year growth.
Google, Ask.com, Comcast and AT&T Worldnet all enjoyed year on year growth, while Yahoo!, MSN, AOL and others reported annual declines.
Overall, all search providers saw a year on year decline of 7.7%.

This comes just a day after comScore released figures showing that mobile search has grown by a massive 68% in the US – with over 20.8 million US mobile subscribers accessing search during June. (see Mobile Search Grows 38% In Europe Over The Past Year)
The comScore report found that mobile search is gaining both popularity and frequency of use in the US and Europe, with Google being the preferred brand for mobile browser-based searches.
