GWR Bolsters Marketing Team To Forge Brand Strategies

Commercial radio group GWR has announced plans to strengthen its marketing department with the appointment of a new marketing manager and new marketing executive.

The appointments will see Elizabeth Addario join GWR as marketing manager on 17 May, having previously held the same position at handbag.com. Cheryl Bailey will join the company on 1 June as marketing executive reporting directly to Addario.

The new position will see Addario assume responsibility for developing and implementing an extensive brand and marketing strategy for The Mix, GWR’s network of 31 local FM stations.

Prior to taking up the position with GWR, Addario held positions with Electronic Telegraph, the Daily Telegraph‘s website, as well as being marketing executive for ACNielsen. Addario will report to GWR Group marketing director Jim Cruickshank and replaces Tom Millarm who is leaving GWR at the end of May to work for the European Commission.

Commenting on the appointments, Cruickshank said: “Both Elizabeth and Cheryl will play an important part in strengthening the position of our local FM stations in the radio market place. I look forward to welcoming them both to the GWR marketing team.”

Earlier this month GWR announced the sale of its 27.8% stake in Radio Investments to a new company headed by former Jazz FM chief executive, Richard Wheatly. The deal, worth a total of £10.6 million, is due for completion later this month once Wheatly’s fledgling Local Radio Company has completed its accelerated flotation on the alternative AIM index (see GWR Off-Loads Radio Investments For £10.6 Million).
