Hearst Digital appoints new head of technology

Hearst Digital Website Yahoo! executive James Wood has been appointed head of technology at NatMags’ Hearst Digital.

Wood, currently Yahoo!’s head of entertainments engineering for Europe, will be responsible for the delivery of all Hearst digital and NatMag websites.

The move follows last year’s announcement by Hearst Digital that it would be restructuring and bringing the technical delivery of its websites in house.

Wood will be responsible for sites such as Handbag, Allaboutyou, Menshealth and Hapersbazaar.

Julian Downing, Hearst digital programming director, said: “James’ appointment is the beginning of an intensive process that will bring efficiencies to the current development process at Hearst digital, increase output and reduce costs.”
