Although a fair few internet companies shut down in June, 53 according to Webmergers, this represents a plateau in the dot-dom death dot toll as a comparable number ceased to be in May (54).
In April, the number of companies which shut down or declared bankruptcy was 59 and so far the number of ‘substantial’ internet companies around the world which have shut down this year totals 555.
These figures are considerably higher than last year when just 17 companies closed, indeed the total for the year to date at this time in 2000 was just 39.
