IPC Advertising Appoints McDevitt As New MD

Caroline McDevitt IPC Advertising has appointed Caroline McDevitt as its new managing director with immediate effect, seeing the media boss take a seat on the IPC Media Board.

McDevitt joined IPC last May as director of group advertising (see IPC Picks McDevitt For Group Ad Director Role), and will now chair the IPC Advertising Executive, leading the company’s new advertising strategy.

The new MD will work with IPC’s board to develop a more efficient structure to service agency planners and buyers, as well as improve IPC’s client offering. She will also work closely with the PPA to make the case for magazines as a powerful and unique advertising medium.

Commenting on her appointment, McDevitt said: “I am delighted to be joining the IPC Board. My appointment affirms the importance IPC places on advertising and its relationships with clients and agencies. I will be working closely with our advertising partners to develop IPC’s strategy for delivering more effective and creative magazine advertising, and raising the profile of the medium so that it is higher up their communications agenda.”

IPC Media chief executive, Sylvia Auton, added: “Caroline’s appointment is a strategic response to changing agency and client needs. Consolidation, commoditisation and customisation are fundamentally impacting on how media is bought, and we need to adapt the way we work to reflect these dynamics. In the short time she has been with us, Caroline has already made a significant impact and I know she will be a great asset to the board.”

Elsewhere, IPC has also appointed IPC Connect’s ad director Kate MacKenzie as its new group ad director for weeklies, while IPC ignite! has promoted display sales director Sam Finlay to the role of group advertisement director across the company’s portfolio of men’s and music magazines.
