ITV Drama Wins Head-To-Head With BBC

The Family Man ITV1’s long running drama programmes The Bill and Footballers’ Wives delivered a sound beating to BBC One last night, flooring competition from rivals The Family Man and Waterloo Road.

The Bill notched up an average adult audience of 5.2 million last night, compared with BBC One’s Waterloo Road, which drew 4.3 million in the same time slot.

Immediately afterwards, ITV’s Footballers’ Wives attracted 4.2 million, while BBC One’s The Family Man managed just 3.5 million.

Channel 4 saw success with its film, Basic Instinct, drawing 1.5 million on average to the infamous Sharon Stone movie.

Five’s largest audience came with its broadcast of US medical drama House, drawing just over 2 million adults on average.
