ITV1’s Commando Beaten By BBC One

Griff Rhys Jones There were some great shows on the box last night, with the first episode of the new ITV1 documentary series Commando: On The Front Line going head to head with BBC One’s Who Do You Think You Are?

The BBC One family history show came out on top in the epic struggle to be crowned Thursday night 9pm ratings champ, with a peak of 5.9 million adult viewers (a 29.8% share) watching Griff Rhys Jones find out about his heritage.

Commando: On The Front Line, which followed recruits as they began their military training, had a peak of 3.2 million adults (a 15.8% share) in the same timeslot.

Over on BBC Two at 9pm was the double bill of Mock The Week and Saxondale.

Amusing panel show Mock The Week had a peak of 1.8 million adult viewers (a 9% share), whilst Saxondale, on at 9.30pm, had a peak of 1.1 million adults (a 5.5% share).

Also on at 9pm was Born To Be Different on Channel 4. The documentary series was filmed over seven years and is an unsentimental portrait of life with a disabled child.

The show had a peak audience of 1.8 million adults (a 9.3% share) and an average of 1.7 million stuck with it throughout its hour long running time.

From 7.30pm last night on Five, viewers could watch an intriguing game of football between Everton and Metalist Kharkiv in the EUFA Cup.

England striker Andrew Johnson missed two penalties as Everton were held to a draw, and a peak of 1.9 million adults watched the action.
