Jan ABCs: All online news sites see spike in traffic
In an unusual turn of events, all online news sites recorded an increase in traffic in January – with some huge spikes across the board.
The Independent managed to increase its online audience by 34.5% period-on-period – an extra 1.24 million browsers a day to draw in a total of more than 4.83 million.
Dailystar.co.uk was also up by more than a third (33.4%) to 993,400.
An 11.8% period-on-period increase in average daily browsers took MailOnline’s online audience to 15.64 million, while Trinity Mirror’s digital portfolio was up 16.2% PoP to 9.5 million.
Meanwhile, the Sun was up 20.2%, Telegraph 15.3%, express.co.uk 16%, Metro 17.4% and Evening Standard 22.1%.
