Jazz FM Set For Autumn Return

Radio Jazz FM is set to return to the UK’s airwaves this autumn in a joint venture between GMG Radio and The Local Radio Company.

The new look Jazz FM will broadcast on DAB in three major areas – London, The West Midlands and The North West – and will also offer national coverage through Sky and via the jazzfm.com website.

The relaunch of Jazz FM was announced today as the Local Radio Company announced its interim financial results.

Richard Wheatly, executive chairman of The Local Radio Company, said: “This is more than a unique opportunity for The Local Radio Company and GMG Radio.

“It’s a response to a real, unsatisfied demand for a professional 21st century media and marketing organisation catering for a fast growing, affluent group of people who like both the idea and music that was Jazz FM.”

Under its new three-year licence agreement, Jazz FM will operate from studios throughout the UK and will be run by Wheatly and financial director Alistair Mackenzie, supported by a programming and media team which will begin work over the summer.

The station expects to begin broadcasting in late autumn.
