Robin Angell the managing director of JICRIT, the owner of J-ET, the UK trading system for the radio industry, has announced he will be stepping down from the role next year after nearly two decades with the company.
Angell has played a pivotal role in the progress and development of J-ET, which was initially launched in 1998 and was the UK’s first automated media trading platform, built with the IPA and Radiocentre who own JICRIT.
J-ET handles 98% of all national radio advertising and has over 10,000 users.
Chontal Angus, previously the head of AudioTrack and AudioLab, will be replacing Angell in the newly defined role of “executive consultant.”
Angus brings more than two decades of experience in the audio and media technology sector, and was key to the development and operational success of parent company of The Media Leader, Adwanted UK’s audio platforms.
In reflecting on this new opportunity, she said: “I’m honoured to continue the incredible work of my predecessor, Robin, along with the fantastic J-ET team at Adwanted.
“Having been involved in J-ET’s development for over two decades, I’ve seen first hand the passion, innovation and teamwork that have driven its success to date.
“Now, with a JICRIT hat on, I’m excited to build on that strong foundation and work with the talented J-ET team to guide the next chapter of its evolution.”
Speaking on the new hire and JICRIT’s next chapter, chair John McGeough, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Chontal as the new Executive Consultant for JICRIT.
“With her deep understanding of the J-ET system and wide-ranging contacts across the audio industry in agencies, media-owners and associated tech suppliers, she’s the perfect person to lead us into the next generation of developments for J-ET, focussed in the short-term on the roll-out of J-ET Digital to further simplify and improve audio trading for all concerned.”
A timeline of events
Angell joined JICRIT in 2006 and reflected on his time: “I’ve had a wonderful time watching J-ET grow into the powerhouse it is today and it feels like a perfect time to pass the baton onto Chontal , who will care as much about the system as I have.
“I would like to thank the JICRIT Board for its foresight and support over the years and the J-ET team at Adwanted for their incredible skill and professionalism who also happen to be great people to work with.”
The exiting MD has been involved in numerous formative projects over J-ET’s lifetime including the introduction of J-ET Copy+, which brought creative agencies into the J-ET family.
By providing creatives up-to-date validation against station bookings, proof of delivery, and a full audit trail, Copy+ simplified and sped up the delivery process.
Most recently, the launch of digital audio trading in J-ET marks a new era for UK audio.
Now seamlessly bridging the gap between linear and digital trading in a unified ecosystem, Robin leaves J-ET well prepared to face the evolving audio landscape
