Karen Eccles named as new Sky Media MD

Sky has announced Karen Eccles will join as the new managing director for Sky Media UK & ROI. Eccles joins from Telegraph Media Group (TMG), where she was most recently chief commercial officer.

Eccles was at TMG for more than eight years, focused on revenue growth, including as managing director of Digital & Innovation. Before that, she held commercial leadership roles at Innovid, Global, Beano Studios / Stylist Group, and DMGT. Eccles is also a member of The Media Leaders Club.

In a corresponding move, Brett Aumuller has been appointed managing director, transformation. Aumuller will report to Sophie Ahmed and will work with the wider Sky Executive team to design and deliver transformation initiatives.

The moves come following news that Priya Dogra, Sky’s chief advertising, group data and new revenue officer, has been appointed the next CEO of Channel 4. She will assume the role in March 2026.

As part of the changes, Sky is bringing its editorial and advertising businesses closer together: Eccles will report to Cécile Frot-Coutaz, CEO of Sky Studios & chief content officer.

Eccles said: “I’m pleased to be stepping into this role at such an important time in the industry. I look forward to working with the Sky Media team, building on its strong foundations and helping to shape the next phase of growth.”

These moves follow bids from Sky’s parent company, Comcast, for fellow UK broadcaster ITV.
