Kiss And Galaxy Team Up For CKOne Campaign

Radio Emap Advertising’s Kiss network and Global Radio’s Galaxy network have teamed up to create a major national campaign for CKOne.

The partnership is the first use of radio for CKOne and a first for the networks in terms of joint programming. The activity sees them creating a DJ talent search to find the best new mixing DJ in the UK, asking the question ‘are you the ckone?’ The eight week campaign launches on October 29 across the network’s breakfast shows.

Campaign activity includes the launch and continued support on the networks’ breakfast shows, trails, live reads, a series of ‘CKOne showcase’ events, a special two hour syndicated ‘CKOne show’ and a one week spot advertising campaign pre-Christmas.

The campaign will include a specially created microsite – www.areyoutheckone.co.uk – to which listeners will be encouraged to submit their DJ-ing entries via on-air trails and live reads running from October 29 to November 18 (entrants will also be invited to send CDs or minidiscs to the respective station’s offices).

The ten best entries will be shortlisted and judged by an expert judging panel comprised of DJs from both networks, a DMC DJ and a music industry figure.

As part of the campaign, a series of ‘CKOne showcases’ will be held on November 24 and December 2 in three key, high-footfall areas: Bluewater (London), Trafford Centre (Manchester) and Metro Centre (Newcastle) and will be hosted by DJs from across the networks.

The climax of the campaign will be the ‘CKOne show’ to be broadcast on December 9 at 7pm. All ten finalists will be showcased during the two hour show and the programme will feature interviews with Kiss and Galaxy DJs as well as DMC DJs and the judging panel.

The final element of the campaign sees the production of a 40″ promotional CKOne radio advert. The ad will run for a week from December 17.

This deal with CKOne follows the announcement in March this year that Kiss and Galaxy were joining forces to provide easier access to creative solutions and cross network opportunities for clients to target the elusive young adult audience (see Kiss And Galaxy In Cross-Network Alliance).

The deal between Kiss, Galaxy and CKOne was brokered by Christophe Spencer and Ben Barker at OMD UK, Spencer Bakewell at Emap Advertising and Katie Soddington at Global Radio.
