The Mail on Sunday is set to relaunch in the New Year, with the paper breaking in to two main sections in a bid to attract a new crop of younger readers.
The Associated Newspapers title will distribute the two sections alongside its magazines You and Live!. There will be a main news section, and a second section called ‘2.0’, which will feature entertainment, national property, health and sport.
It has been reported that the planned changes were announced internally last week and the MoS‘s ad team is expected to talk to agencies about the innovations over the coming weeks.
The Mail on Sunday is performing relatively well in the newspaper market. Its September circulation remained static at over 2.3 million but giveaways have seen its ABC spike and fall (see ABC National Newspaper Round-Up: September 2007).
Its mid-market rival, the Sunday Express, saw its circulation fall to just over 727,400 copies, after a year on year decline of around 13% in September.
