Media agency December 19 has appointed the Radiocentre’s planning director, Mark Barber, as its first non-executive director.
Barber, whose role at Radiocentre is unaffected by the appointment, will provide strategic advice as the organisation develops its long-term vision to boost its offering and grow the business.
“I am delighted to be working with December 19 at this crucial time in the organisation’s development as the independent agency sector is experiencing rapid growth,” said Barber.
“[Founders] Dave and Dan have created a fantastic business which thrives on great end-to-end service and I’m really looking forward to working with them on unlocking the opportunities that will take the company to the next level.”
Barber joined Universal McCann in 1990 where he spent 11 years in a variety of roles including group account director and communications strategy director. He joined Radiocentre in 2001 and in 2015 received an MBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honour’s list for services to commercial radio.
“The appointment of Mark is an important part of our growth strategy, allowing us to tap into his strategic thinking and his wealth of knowledge of the media landscape,” said David Barnett, December 19 joint-founder.
“Bringing someone of Mark’s talents and reputation on board is not only a coup for us but also shows that the independent media agency sector is in rude health.”
December 19’s clients includes Viking Cruises, Columbus Direct, ecco, Mahabis, La-Z-Boy and Propertymark.
