Megaposter Signs O2 For Massive Midlands Site

Megaposter Signs O2 For Massive Midlands Site

Giant poster contractor Megaposter has secured the mobile phone operator O2 as its first customer for a new 224 square-metre site in the heart of Birmingham city centre.

The poster site is currently being used to promote O2’s Business Zones service, but has been booked up for the next three months by other advertisers keen to utilise the location’s high traffic volume and visibility.

Around 2.16 million vehicles pass the site each month as it overlooks Holloway Circus, a key access point for the South West and the M5.

Pedestrian traffic around the area is also high, with several large retail developments in the city centre nearby. The Mailbox and Bull Ring centres are literally around the corner, while the city’s convention and exhibition centres lie along principal routes passing the site.

The extension of Megaposter’s portfolio comes amid heightened competition in the outdoor market as well as unprecedented growth in market share. Outdoor advertising recently attained a much sought after 10% market share, with signs that it will continue to grow.

Elsewhere several start-up companies such as Nomad and ScreenFX look set to secure large portions of the market with large format poster and plasma screen offerings respectively (see ScreenFX Prepares Largest Ever Plasma Screen Network).

Earlier this month Megaposter announced its latest site in Shoreditch, benefiting from 2.1 million passing vehicles and situated close to bars and restaurants drawing young, style-conscious consumers to the area. The site is currently being used by Sony Ericsson to promote its latest mobile phone (see Megaposter Signs Sony For Shoreditch Site).
