More Than 7m Tune In To Cranford

Cranford All-star period drama, Cranford, was a winner once again for BBC One last night with an average adult audience of more than 7.1 million.

The programme, which stars big names like Judi Dench and Imelda Staunton, gave the channel a 28.1% viewing share between 9pm and 10pm, whilst BBC Two screened the final episode in Charlie Boorman and Ewan McGregor’s journey from John O’Groats to Cape Town.

The last leg of Long Way Down was watched by more than 3.8 million adults (15.2%), whilst ITV1’s Who Gets The Dog was seen by more than 4.1 million (18.9%).

Earlier, BBC Two scored just over 7.1 million adults on average for Top Gear, with Formula One star Lewis Hamilton drawing in the crowds to give the channel a 27.1% audience share.

Heartbeat on ITV1 gained a few more viewers, just short of 7.2 million (27.4%), whilst Antiques Roadshow over on BBC One attracted just over 5.1 million (19.6%).

Saturday evening saw audiences entertained by singing and dancing reality contests The X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing. Tangos and pass dobles wee enjoyed by more than 9.2 million adults on average on BBC One between 6pm and 7pm, whilst ITV1’s singing show lured over 7.9 million between 7pm and 8.30pm.

The X Factor‘s results show – on between 9pm and 9.30pm on Saturday – was watched by 6.7 million (30%), whilst Come Dancing‘s results programme, on Sunday between 7pm and 7.30pm, drew eight million (34%).

The final of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, which saw everyone’s favourite contestant, Christopher Biggins, crowned King of the Jungle, was seen by an average of 7.4 million adults (34.1%) on ITV1 on Friday evening.
