More Than Six Million Show Pride In ITV

Pride Of Britain The Daily Mirror’s Pride of Britain Awards were the big winner for ITV last night, drawing in almost 6.3 million adult viewers on average over its hour and a half running time.

The programme easily triumphed in the 9pm to 10.30pm timeslot, gaining the channel a 30.3% viewing share.

Up against it was yet another wildlife/British coast show, this time hosted by the green-fingered Alan Titchmarsh. New series, the Nature of Britain, which saw Titch look at everything from boxing hares to swirling starlings, was watched by more than 4.7 million adults, giving BBC One a 22.2% share between 9pm and 10pm.

Heroes, which last night starred former Doctor Who, Christopher Eccleston, put up a good fight for BBC Two, with an audience of more than 2.4 million (11.5%).

Earlier The Bill was the most watched show in the 8pm to 9pm slot, giving ITV1 an audience share of 26.3%, with 5.3 million viewers.

Meanwhile, on BBC One, Watchdog and Rogue Traders lured more than 4.2 million and 4.3 million adult viewers respectively.
