National newspaper ABCs: August 2016

Daily market

August was a tough month for the daily market, with only i, Times and Daily Star posting a yearly increase in circulation.

London Free Press

The downward trend was repeated across the London free press market, as Evening Standard‘s slight increase in year on year circulation wasn’t enough to offset the decline for both City A.M. and Metro.

Evening Standard circulation in August stood at 858,504, up 0.3% on 2015’s figure.

The market currently records a combined circulation of just under 1.7 million.

Sunday market

Despite the performances of Daily Star Sunday Times and Sunday Telegraph, the Sunday market also saw an overall year on year decrease in circulation for August.

As a whole the market dipped by 5.8% compared to August 2015 to stand at 6.1 million
