Netflix’s Stranger Things opens rifts in major landmarks for global OOH campaign
The Upside Down is taking over 15 major landmarks from around the globe in Netflix’s latest out-of-home marketing campaign stunt to promote the release of Stranger Things season four.
“Rifts”, portals to the fictional Upside Down, will be displayed as a visual spectacle on landmarks including:
Barranquilla, Colombia

Empire State Building, New York City

Menala Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Milan, Italy

Wawel Castle in Krakow, Poland
Meanwhile, in the wake of the elementary school shooting that occurred on 24 May in Uvalde, Texas, Netflix has added a content warning for US viewers to the first episode of the season.
The episode purportedly begins with a violent scene that graphically depicts several dead children.
The warning will read: “We filmed this season of Stranger Things a year ago. But given the recent tragic shooting in Texas, viewers may find the opening scene of episode one distressing. We are deeply saddened by this unspeakable violence, and our hearts go out to every family mourning a loved one.”
Stranger Things 4 premieres today.
