New Series Of Inspector Lynley Gets 4.3m Adults

Inspector Lynley The big winner in the ratings battle last night was The Inspector Lynley Mysteries on BBC One at 8pm.

The return of the detective show had a peak of 4.3 million adult viewers (a 23% share of the audience) and an average of 4.1 million stayed tuned throughout its hour and a half running time.

On ITV1 at 9pm was Britain’s Youngest Brides, which followed the fortunes of women who decided to get married whilst still in their teens.

The documentary, which featured one young woman of 17 who was pregnant with twins, had a peak of 2.8 million adult viewers (a 14.7% share).

BBC Two filled the 9pm hour with its two comedy shows, Mock The Week and Hyperdrive. The topical quiz show Mock The Week had a peak audience of two million adults, whilst sci-fi comedy Hyperdrive, starring Nick Frost, had a peak of one million adults.

Over on Channel 4 at the same time was Big Brother, in which some people sat about a bit. The reality TV behemoth had a peak audience of three million adult viewers (a 16% share).

Overnight data is available each morning in mediatel.co.uk’s TV Database, with all BARB registered subscribers able to view reports for terrestrial networks, ITV2 and Sky One.
