Newspapers Raise Prices As Circulations Continue To Fall

Times Cover The Sunday Times became Britain’s first ever £2 newspaper last weekend, with the Telegraph also raising its cover price.

As well as the Sunday Times, the Times has also raised its cover price, in order that News International can make back some of its investment in new title thelondonpaper.

Meanwhile, the Telegraph Group has raised its prices to offset the cost of moving into its new Victoria offices, which host an integrated digital newsroom.

The Sunday Telegraph has increased its price by 20p, to £1.80, while the price of the Saturday edition has risen to £1.30, up 20p.

The cover price of the weekday edition of the Telegraph has also risen, up 5p to 70p, whilst the weekday edition of the Times has gone from 60p to 65p.

In addition, the cover price of the Mail On Sunday has risen by 10p to £1.40.

Last week’s ABC National Newspaper figures saw both the daily and Sunday markets record overall year on year declines (see NewsLine).
