October Text Messages Continue Recording Breaking Performance

Text messages sent during October yet again beat records, with new figures from the Mobile Data Association (MDA) revealing that a staggering 2.9 billion messages were sent during the month, with an average of 93.5 million sent per day.

Person-to-person texts sent across the UK network operators last month showed an increase of 25.7% on the total sent compared to the same time last year.

Octobers strong growth continues on from the healthy performance seen in September, where an average of 89 million were sent per day (see Texts Sent In September Continue To Break Records).

The continued record breaking performance of text messaging in the UK has resulted in the MDA forecasting texts to reach 32 billion, with the cumulative total to date at 29 billion.
