Odeon cinemas to get Bluetooth technology

Odeon Logo All Odeon cinemas will be equipped with Bluetooth over the next two months, after Digital Cinema Media appointed mobile marketing agency Bluepod Media to provide the technology.

The move follows the publication of research which found that 65% of 15-24 year old cinema goers would download content to their phone, reports New Media Age.

DCM expects to deliver more than 163,000 downloads per month, offering added value for existing advertisers such as Five, Warner, Xbox and Yahoo.

Louise Trinder, creative solutions director at DCM, said: “An integral part of our digital strategy is to ensure Bluetooth is available across all DCM cinemas nationwide to provide advertisers with the opportunity to complement screen time with marketing communications directly to the cinemagoers’ phones.”
