Online Retail Looks Set For Slow, Steady Growth

According to new research from ActivMedia Research, and contrary to many press reports, many online retailers are doing well.

The report determined that half of B2C companies and a third of B2B sites are now profitable. Of the B2B sites, a further third expect to show a profit within a year although some B2B sites claim they will never be profitable as their sites exist purely as marketing vehicles.

Whilst only one in four content sites are currently making a profit, most hope to be profitable within the next few years. A similar percentage of ASPs and ISPs are currently in profit although this market is unstable and competition is fierce.
