Origin Appoints Cox As New Chairman

Origin Logo Origin Publishing has appointed Kevin Cox as non-executive chairman of the company with immediate effect, just days after its sale by the BBC in a management buyout.

Cox, a founding partner in the company, returns after resigning as chief executive in 2005. His reinstatement sees him take the reigns from Peter Phippen, managing director of BBC Magazines, who steps down following the business’s sale (see BBC Offloads Origin In Management Buyout).

Andy Marshall, managing director of Origin welcomed back his fellow founder, stating: “We have worked together over many years and enjoyed enormous success in building Origin from nothing to where we are today. I know we will benefit from Kevin’s tremendous publishing acumen and strategic expertise as we look with confidence to the next exciting stage in Origin’s development.”

Cox added: “I am very pleased to be able to support the fantastic team at Origin as non-executive Chairman. This is a great business with an outstanding track record and an even more exciting future. I’m looking forward to helping the company go from strength to strength.”
