Q Partners Napster For Christmas Retrospective

Q Partners Napster For Christmas Retrospective

Q Magazine Emap’s flagship music magazine, Q, is to offer readers a unique review of the year in music next month, creating a special ‘napstercast’ quiz in conjunction with the online music provider of the same name.

The partnership will see Q magazine produce a downloadable music quiz hosted by comedian Ed Byrne and featuring artists such as Miss Dynamite and Richard Archer from Hard Fi.

Amongst the rounds included in the quiz will be the “Best and Worst of 2005,” “Reunions and Comebacks,” “The Q Awards” and a quick fire question round, with two teams, led by Paul Rees, editor of Q magazine, and Keith Cameron, a music journalist and Q magazine contributor competing for supremacy.

The quiz coincides with the release of Q’s Review of the Year issue, on sale from December 1st. The collaboration continues the work that Q and Napster started earlier this year, including Q magazine’s biggest ever covermounted CD in June (see Q To Draw Readers With A Million Free Songs). As well as being available via Napster, the quiz will be aired on Q radio on December 5th.

Commenting on the promotion, Rees said: “Q is the essential music guide and Napster is the perfect place to find essential music. As far as I’m concerned, there’s no better way to sum up the year in music than by bringing the two of us together. And I’m delighted Miss Dynamite and Hard Fi could join us.”

Jeff Smith, director, UK and international programming for Napster added: “Napster’s much more than an online store – it’s the UK’s biggest music community, with fans across the country able to swap songs, explore each other’s collections and browse all the latest music via recommendations on the Napster homepage.

“I’m always looking for new, exciting features to add to the service, and by partnering with the UK’s favourite music magazine to create the Q Napstercast we’ve added yet more exclusive content for UK music fans.”
