Reed Elsevier Sees Good Growth Despite Tough Markets

Anglo-Dutch publishing group, Reed Elsevier, has this morning posted a strong set of 2002 financial results, with organic growth outperforming the market in each of the group’s publishing divisions.

After adjusting for currency changes, revenues rose by 13% in the year, whilst pre-tax profits increased by 2%.

Reed says that it has achieved the targets established three years ago when the group developed its strategy for growth, despite a very different and more challenging global economic environment.

Reed Elsevier’s management says that it expects 2003 to be another challenging year, but is confident of healthy growth at the company despite a tough economic environment. Chairman Morris Tabaksblat says that he is committed to deliver above market revenue growth and double-digit adjusted earnings per share for 2003.

Shares in Reed Elsevier were up 4.2% at 449p by midday today, following the release of the results.
