Are you, or is someone in your business, looking for an opportunity to get face-to-face with some of the most interesting, wise and knowledgeable people in media?

On 12 September, with support from Mediatel Newsline, the UK chapter of the International Advertising Association will host another of its excellent speed mentoring evenings. The free event, kindly hosted at Oath’s London offices, is particularly good for junior people from smaller companies who don’t have the luxury of internal training opportunities.

That said, the night is still open to anyone and it gives curious minds an opportunity to ask mentors any question they like that might prove useful for a career in media. The fun part is that it works like speed dating, meaning it operates at pace and you’re allowed to have a drink.

Who knew learning could be this much fun?

Previous mentors have included Shell’s global head of brand and communications, Americo Campos Silva; Publicis’ head of growth and innovation, Lara Ponniah; Politico’s UK editor, Kate Day; Washington Post international sales director, Emma Winchurch-Beale; (oh, and Mediatel’s editor – which is why we’re now formally supporting this worthwhile initiative).

And to help future-proof the project, which is now in its third year, the IAA UK is keen to hear from people who would like to offer their mentoring services. Needless to say, having a wide range of backgrounds, skills and experiences will help ensure the event remains top class. Think you could help? Then speak to the IAA.
