Silent Witness Wins It For BBC One

Silent Witness Silent Witness was the winner in the 9pm timeslot last night with a peak of 5.6 million adult viewers (a 27.4% share of the audience).

The disturbing detective show easily beat ITV1’s reality show Hell’s Kitchen, which features Marco Pierre White putting a selection of celebrities through their paces in a real pressure-cooker environment.

The ITV show could only manage a peak of 3.2 million adults in the 9pm slot (a 15.5% share), slightly above its average of 3.1 million adults for it hour long duration.

On BBC Two at 9pm was Tribe where the always-smiling Bruce Parry sailed onto a remote island and went fishing with some of the natives.

The stunning scenery and relaxing lifestyle of the people of Anuta had an average of 2.7 million adults hooked throughout the programme’s hour-long running time.

On less of an idyllic note was Dumped on Channel 4. The new reality series began on Sunday with 11 unsuspecting volunteers left stranded on a south London rubbish dump, with the challenge of having to survive off the rubbish the rest of us have thrown away.

Dumped, which has the admirable aim of highlighting Britain’s mountain of waste, had a peak audience of 1.2 million adults (a 5.9% share), putting it in last place in the 9pm slot, with Five’s CSI: Miami getting a peak of 2.1 million adults.

Following on from Dumped was the much talked about Skins. The teen drama had a peak audience of one million adults.
