Sky Gets Cricket World Cup Sponsor

Sky Box Marston’s, the UK’s largest producers of premium cask ale, is to sponsor Sky’s on-air and online coverage of the cricket World Cup which begins in the Caribbean next week.

The sponsorship covers sponsorship credits and break bumpers on Sky Sports broadcast coverage and branding on World Cup sections of skysports.com.

Every match is being screened exclusively live with simultaneous games shown via Sky’s interactive service. Marston’s will also receive extensive branding on the skysports.com World Cup microsite.

Announcing the deal, Peter Jackson, director of marketing, Marston’s, said: “Sponsoring the Sky World Cup coverage reflects our aim to support cricket and its fans wherever and whenever possible.

“This is a logical extension of our commitments which include the Official beer of the England cricket team and sponsorship of eight county clubs and four Test match grounds.”

David Shore, head of sponsorship for Sky, commented: “The ICC World Cup is cricket’s biggest event and I’m delighted that Marston’s share with us the excitement and passion of what should be a fantastic seven weeks of cricket.

“This agreement reflects not just the quality of our cricket output, but also the popularity of skysports.com.”

The sponsorship deal was brokered by Manning Gottlieb OMD.
