Smooth Radio To Network Mark Goodier Show

Mark Goodier GMG Radio announced today that it will broadcast Smooth Radio’s Mark Goodier show to selected stations across its radio network.

Goodier joined 102.2 Smooth Radio at its launch in March (see Mark Goodier To Join Smooth For Relaunch) and presents the mid-morning (10:00 to 13:00) show which to date has been available to London listeners.

From Monday September 3, the show will be broadcast through Smooth Radio’s London, East Midlands, West Midlands and Glasgow stations.

Goodier said: “I joined Smooth Radio because the combination of fantastic music and the opportunity to deliver an entertaining show was too good to pass up. I was very excited to be broadcasting to London every day and now that the show is broadcasting across the Midlands and into Scotland I am thrilled.”

Goodier has presented both the prestigious breakfast and drivetime shows on BBC Radio 1, as well as the Official UK Top 40 until 2002.

He has also hosted the Classical Chart for Classic FM and Smash Hits! For Emap as well as the Real Top 40 on Smooth’s sister network Real Radio. In recent years he has become a regular voice on BBC Radio 2 and runs a successful radio production and talent company, Wise Buddah.

John Simons, GMG Radio group programming director, said: “Mark is a giant in the world of broadcasting and Smooth Radio is delighted to be able to reunite him with audiences across the country that grew up listening to him.”

The latest RAJAR figures, for January – June 2007, show that Smooth Radio London had a weekly reach of 502,000 and a 1.4% share of listening.
