Soaps Clean Up For ITV

Coronation Street ITV’s soap offerings Emmerdale and Coronation Street performed well for the broadcaster last night, drawing audiences of 8.2 million and 9.7 million adults respectively.

The broadcaster’s evening schedule continued to impress following the conclusion of Coronation Street, with long running police drama The Bill notching up an average audience of 6.3 million adults.

The BBC fared less well throughout the night, failing to top ITV’s competing programming. What Not To Wear provided the highlight of BBC One’s evening, drawing 5 million adults on average, while BBC Two’s Rome attracted an average audience of 4.4 million.

Elsewhere, Channel 4’s Grand Designs achieved the broadcaster’s largest audience of the evening with 3.6 million adults, while Five’s screening of Australian soap Home and Away drew 1.7 million on average, before audiences fell below the 1 million mark for the remainder of the evening.
